Our Hiking Gear Staples

We know that hiking gear can be very personal to the individual. Gear will vary based on the types of hikes that you like to do. Your body type can determine the pants you prefer to wear. Your feet might be wider, narrower, highly arched, or very flat, impacting the shoes that you want to wear.  However, if you need a starting point of some of the gear we have consistently used and repurchased over the years, this list can help you put together your hiking gear for your future travels.

We purchase a lot of our gear from REI, although not all of it. We want to share the items that we use and wear but we also know that it is easiest to purchase things from one location. For some items that we use that are not sold at REI, we have included similar products from REI that we would consider using (and may purchase in the future) to streamline your shopping experience. If no product from REI is listed, it means that we have not found an alternative that we would feel comfortable promoting. We only display items that we ourselves are currently using or alternates that we may use in the future when our current gear wears down.
